H&CS Scholarships Print E-mail

It has always been the intention of the Department of Horticulture & Crop Science at The Ohio State University to help our students in all aspects of their education. To do so, we look beyond the classroom. Since the early 1900's, we have offered many scholarships for aiding the education of our students. Today we offer more than 17 scholarships on a yearly basis and many others on a one-time-award basis. These scholarships have been established in a variety of ways and for a multitude of reasons. The award amount varies from scholarship to scholarship as does the criteria for which each recipient is chosen.

Additionally, the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and the University both offer scholarships to incoming freshman, transfer, and current students.

Scholarship Application

Application forms are available through the College website.  Complete application. Questions about the application should be directed to Tom Shockey, Student Services Coordinator, (614) 292-3505.  In addition to completing the online application, a personal resume must also be submitted to Tom Shockey in Room 335G Howlett Hall. Resumes can also be dropped in Tom's mailbox in Room 207 Howlett Hall.   Deadline for all materials is March 1, 2010.

Scholarships will be awarded spring quarter for the next academic year beginning autumn quarter. All applications are due by the last day of regularly scheduled classes for winter quarter. Exception - Puderbaugh Scholarship due in January.

Scholarship Descriptions

  1. The scholarships and awards are arranged in alphabetical order.
  2. Each scholarship listing includes the title of the scholarship, the award amount, and a brief explanation of when, why and how it was established.
  3. The requirement section should be used to assist you in deciding whether you are a viable candidate for a scholarship.

NOTE: The majority of scholarships give preference to students studying a specific area of Horticulture. Examples being floriculture, pomology and landscape horticulture. This does not imply that students who have not completed coursework in these specialty areas should not apply for a particular scholarship. Individual cases will still be considered.
